This is a question about the Atwood's machine. it consists of two masses hanging from the ends of a string?

Well, the string's mass is constantly "trading" sides of the pulley, increasing the total mass of the falling side, and decreasing the total mass of the rising side. This as a result continuously increases (M-m), and thus makes a=g*(M-m)/(M+m) rise continuously.
