Girlfriends going travelling, should I do this...?

Basically I won't realistically be able to contact her for 4-5 months as shes going back packing in Australasia etc. I don't know whether she'll get time to use a computer or anything, i'm hoping she'll send letters, but basically I had this idea of making 4-5 little notes in sealed envelopes saying a few words, and also a picture of us / me in each for the start of every month, just incase she's missing me or whatever. This sound like a nice thing to do or a cringe thing to do?
